Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a healing system developed and practiced in China over 3,000 years that contains its own principles, theories, numerous methods of diagnosis and therapy as well as various preventative procedures.

Acupuncture is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine. This states that diseases arise from a disturbed balance in the so-called functional circuits. In contrast to Western medicine, this essentially means that when there are complaints, not only individual organs or organ systems are disturbed or pathological, but the entire energy flow of the body is disturbed and therefore needs to be treated beyond the diseased area. This can be done with acupuncture. Disturbances in the inside of your body are eliminated through punctures into the skin with the help of acupuncture needles.

According to traditional understanding, the acupuncture points are located on lines called meridians through which the life energy Qi with its Yin and Yan components flows. Their complete balance in the body represents the ideal state of health. An imbalance leads to illness in the long term. With acupuncture, an existing imbalance is eliminated, the forces can flow again and the suffering is alleviated and completely eliminated.

  • When does acupuncture help?

The list of diseases that can be treated with acupuncture is very long and ranges from allergic, motor and neurological diseases to gastrointestinal, metabolic and skin diseases and much more. You can find a detailed list of indications here.

  • Acupuncture and TCM are not standard services provided by statutory health insurance companies.

Most private health insurance companies and some private supplementary insurance cover the costs of treatment and Chinese medicines. Depending on the service, the calculation is made in accordance with the guidelines of the fee schedule for doctors (GOÄ). Acupuncture therapy typically includes 5-10 sessions in one to three applications per week. Before therapy begins, we can inform you about the approximate costs.

  • Our qualifications

I have the A and B diplomas from the German Medical Association for Acupuncture (DÄGFA). Detailed information about the effects and methods of acupuncture and TCM can be found on the DÄGFA website.
